How does a laser work at our Laser Hair Removal Clinic?

The laser hair removal clinic and it’s light works on the black pigment melanin’. It targets melanin and melanin absorbs this laser light. Thus the light energy absorbed is converted into heat energy by the melanin which damages the surrounding hair follicles that produce hair. This damage inhibits or delays hair growth. This procedure damages the hair follicle without affecting the surrounding skin around it.

Who can get laser hair reduction done?

Usually, there is no specific age limit to get laser hair reduction done as anyone who wants to get rid of unwanted hair can go for it. But since there is a lot of hormonal imbalance during puberty or the growing stages of life and hair growth increases with hormonal changes, it is recommended by our laser hair removal clinic to get it done after 18 years of age.

Precautions before the procedure

• Your doctor will suggest you stay out of the sun before as well as after the treatment.
• Do not wax or pluck your hair as it removes the whole hair follicle which is actually required for effective laser hair reduction. Waxing or plucking should be avoided at least 4 weeks prior to the procedure.
• Shaving is recommended one day prior to the procedure as it removes the hair above the skin and the hair shaft remains intact. During the procedure

• The concerned body part is first shaved if there’s excess hair on the skin.
• A cooling gel is applied to protect the surrounding skin.
• A handheld laser probe is moved on the skin after adjusting the parameters which are decided by the doctor.
• You might feel a warm pinprick sensation along with a cooling sensation due to the gel.
• Treatment might take up to a few minutes or an hour depending on the concerned area

After the procedure

• You might rarely feel slight redness on the treated area which fades off in a few hours.
• If you have any discomfort, an ice cube can be rubbed over it.
• Avoid going out in the sunlight immediately after the procedure and apply your sunscreen.

When can we see the results?

The number of sessions depends on the thickness of the hair and the area to be covered. In general, 6 to 10 sessions are usually required for maximum results.

A single session of laser hair removal clinic can reduce your hair up to 10 to 20%. After three sessions, you will notice a reduction of hair up to 30 to 70% with thinning of hair.
